Community Partnerships
Windward Life Care partners with organizations that share our mission to promote the well-being of those with specific health conditions as well as their caregivers. Windward welcomes the opportunity to collaborate with other organizations in ways that will amplify the benefits to the people we serve.
National Multiple Sclerosis Society
Windward Life Care is proud to serve as a case management provider for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. The partnership was made possible by The Edward M. Dowd Personal Advocate Program through a major multi year donation. MS Navigators at the National Multiple Sclerosis Society identify individuals who can benefit from the personalized case management Windward provides. We are grateful to have this opportunity to enhance the independent living capabilities and quality of life of people affected by MS in San Diego County.
Southern Caregiver Resource Center
Windward Life Care works with Southern Caregiver Resource Center (SCRC) to offer respite for family caregivers in San Diego. Respite provides family caregivers the opportunity to attend support groups and classes with the peace of mind that there is a qualified, professional caregiver attending to their loved one. SCRC contracts with select, professional home care agencies to offer this service.
Windward Life Care: Part of the Fabric of San Diego
Windward Life Care is proud of its dedicated staff who give back to the San Diego County community in many impactful ways. Windward Life Care also sponsors the important work of various nonprofit organizations that support San Diego’s aging population and adults with disabilities. In addition to the list below, Windward participates in the San Diego Regional Home Care Council, and the San Diego Estate Planning Council.
Windward Life Care supports the many programs of Alzheimer’s San Diego that benefit people living with dementia in San Diego County, including engaging outings and activities; family caregiver support groups; and education for professionals who work with older adults. The team at Alzheimer’s San Diego recognizes the dignity of every person living with dementia. They work to make Alzheimer’s a disease of the past, by connecting people to clinical trials and funding research for a cure.
ElderHelp provides services such as friendly home visits, transportation, and grocery shopping that help San Diego seniors remain independent and live with dignity in their own homes. Through online learning and onsite education, ElderHelp supports employed family caregivers and local corporations.
Windward Life Care staff have participated on the San Diego County Aging & Independence Services (AIS) Advisory Council, and in community meetings for senior service providers sponsored by AIS. As a division of Health and Human Services Agency, AIS provides several services to older adults, people with disabilities, and their family members with the goals of promoting safety, encouraging healthy and vital living, and publicizing the positive contributions made by older adults and persons with disabilities.
Another Windward Life Care community partner, George G. Glenner Alzheimer’s Family Centers, Inc.®, is a nonprofit organization that provides specialized adult daycare services to individuals with dementia through its three San Diego locations. Their newest center, Town Square®, replicates a 1950s-60s city, bringing attendees back to a familiar time and place. The concept is based on reminiscence therapy and is the first adult day care model of its kind in the nation.
The Caregiver Coalition, sponsored by the County of San Diego Aging & Independence Services, organizes educational events and forums designed to support family caregivers. They offer “on-site” community education events for caregivers in neighborhoods throughout San Diego County. Windward Life Care participates in monthly meetings of the Caregiver Coalition, collaborating with other aging service providers to support San Diego caregivers and their loved ones.
