Windward Life Care is currently seeking a full-time Human Resources Coordinator to join our team! We are a group of trusted Aging Life Care ® and in-home care professionals with a premier reputation in our field. We offer geriatric care management services and non-medical home care services to clients which are billed on a private-pay basis. Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the Human Resources Coordinator will be responsible for supporting the Human Resources team primarily in recruitment and onboarding, with additional support in leave of absence and workers compensation administration, and employee safety and security (including Covid-19 contact tracing and follow up). The regular work hours for this position are 8:30am-5pm, Monday through Friday. There will be a remote work hybrid schedule – working three (3) days per week in one of our corporate offices for the first 90 days of employment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Recruiting and Onboarding

  • Supports Recruiting & Retention Manager in recruitment and selection process of new employees by reviewing applications for open positions, conducting telephone pre-screens, conducting in- person interviews, performing reference and background checks, conducting new-hire orientations, or other recruitment and onboarding duties as assigned
  • Works to successfully meet recruitment targets to ensure adequate numbers of Home Care Aides to fill open positions and correspond with company growth goals

Employee Safety and Security

  • Act as the COVID point of contact for employees, administer any contact tracing as required per Cal OSHA regulations, conduct symptom watch phone calls with any employees experiencing Covid-like symptoms and advise on quarantine and isolation guidelines as necessary, maintain tracking, communicate pandemic response procedures, and support the business with all cases.

Employee Benefits

  • Coordinate workers’ compensation claims with affected employees and third-party administrator and conduct regular follow-up on claims
  • Administers employee leaves of absence, ensuring compliance with FMLA, CFRA, and other federal and state laws and coordinating effective communication regarding leaves between employee, human resources, staffing, and accounting departments

Human Resources and Administrative

  • Ensures compliance with federal and state wage and hour laws and HCSB guidelines
  • Tracks and ensures all required documentation for Home Care Aides is current and compliant per HCSB regulations.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of two years of general Human Resources, recruitment and onboarding, leave administration, and workers compensations claims experience in a setting involving hourly employees
  • High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Management, or a related field is a plus
  • Ability and willingness to travel periodically between Bankers Hill (downtown San Diego) and San Marcos (North County) office locations during work hours as dictated by recruiting and onboarding needs
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and a high level of professionalism
  • Understanding recruiting methods and best practices, as well as applicable policies and federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, or a willingness and ability to learn
  • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal, counseling, and negotiation skills
  • Ability to maintain a sense of urgency in time-sensitive situations
  • Demonstration of organizational, analytical, problem solving, and judgment competencies to perform the essential functions of this position
  • Strong proficiency in computer use, including Microsoft Office applications, HRIS database systems, and the Internet; experience with home care platforms such as ClearCare is a plus
  • Ability to pass HCSB background screening
  • Active driver’s license, clean driving record, and reliable vehicle
  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification is a plus

Many of the essential functions of this position are characterized by physical work typical of an office environment, requiring such activities as lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 15 lbs., standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and the ability to work on a computer and/or at a desk for prolonged periods.

An external sales position covering San Diego County with responsibility for meeting monthly sales targets through varied sales and business development activities. Develops and maintains relationships with professional referral sources and generates leads for prospective clients. Cultivates strategic partnerships with individuals and organizations in the local aging services community. Promotes quality and appropriateness of services that align with Windward Life Care’s mission to enrich the lives of our clients through services that foster a sense of purpose throughout the lifespan.

Work Schedule: Work hours for this position take place 8:30am-5pm, Monday through Friday. Occasional work on evenings and weekends is required. This is a full-time exempt position. Opportunity to work remotely with visits to our corporate offices in San Diego and San Marcos as needed!

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Plan and execute effective sales strategy
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive plan to identify new referral sources, manage relationships with existing referral sources, and achieve sales targets
  • Manage a set of sales accounts utilizing needs-based selling techniques with local professionals in a position to regularly refer clients to Windward Life Care’s care management, home health and in-home care services; manage key accounts using company’s customer relations management (CRM) database program
  • Represent Windward Life Care and Windward Home Health targeted professional networking events, to identify new potential referral relationships
  • Collaborate with Director of Business Development to ensure close coordination of all external sales activities
  • Review sales results with director and company partners monthly, monitoring key measurements including referrals for new potential clients, assessments scheduled, and new client revenue
  • Manage strategic partnerships within the local aging services community
  • Cultivate partnerships with individuals and organizations within the local business and aging services industry to enhance the Windward Life Care brand and develop new business opportunities
  • Develop and maintain a company continuing education program

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support the internal sales function, in collaboration with the Client Services Representatives and Director of Business Development, by responding as needed to leads and inquiries, qualifying prospective new clients, and closing sales through the scheduling of assessments and consultations
  • Support the marketing and brand management functions in collaboration with Director of Business Development, through participation as needed in strategic community events, networking activities, public speaking engagements, and the planning of professional education and outreach events
  • Work with Director of Business Development to encourage the participation of all WLC staff in the sales effort
  • Participate in the weekly operations meeting
  • Other duties as assigned

Essential Requirements:

  • Experience establishing sales referral relationships with physicians’ offices, skilled nursing facilities, attorneys, financial experts, and fiduciaries
  • Knowledge of community resources and health care delivery systems
  • Knowledge of needs-based sales techniques (e.g. SPIN Selling®)
  • Experience using sales and marketing techniques to generate new business
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Working knowledge of the provision of health care in a variety of settings
  • Two years of sales and marketing experience working within the healthcare field. Experience in working with the elderly or disabled populations preferred.
  • Proficiency in the use of laptop computers, smart phone, Microsoft Office Suite, and CRM
  • Ability to work independently, organize travel efficiently, manage multiple projects effectively, and report mileage and expenses accurately.
  • Active driver’s license, clean driving record, and reliable vehicle

Preferred Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or another related field
  • Experience with internet marketing and social media platforms

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

  • Assist with bathing, dressing, and grooming of client on a routine basis.
  • Assist with toileting and incontinence issues of client as needed.
  • Provide stabilization and assistance with walking as needed, including transferring client to bed, chairs, wheelchair, etc., as required.
  • Manage dementia and Alzheimer’s related behaviors, (i.e., wandering, paranoia) as required.
  • Prepare meals and clean-up meal-related items.
  • Provide medication reminders and appointment reminders.
  • Perform light housekeeping tasks such as dusting, vacuuming, making beds, cleaning bathrooms and kitchens, and laundry.
  • Accompany client to personal and medical appointments.



REQUIREMENTS
:

  • One year of in-home care experience with elderly individual; or equivalent experience and education in a CNA program.
  • Must include experience with activities of daily living (ADLs), including incontinence care.
  • Experience working with client(s) with dementia
    – Bathing, dressing & feeding a person with dementia.
    – Experience managing difficult behaviors.
    – Experience with activity engagement
  • Ability to pass background check.
  • Must possess your own reliable, safe, fully-insured vehicle along with a valid driver’s license and current auto insurance. Ability to drive or take public transportation to client locations is also required, and providing incidental transportation using your vehicle or a client’s vehicle may also be required.
  • Able to perform activities of daily living (ADLs) (i.e. grooming, toileting, bathing)
  • Ability to lift, push or pull up to 40 lbs. unassisted.
  • Ability to follow safety precautions and procedures.
  • Ability to work at least one weekend day per week.
